Mission and vision
The Italian Association for the fight against Neuroblastoma O.N.L.U.S. was born on the 23th July 1993 at “G. Gaslini” institute of Genoa on the initiative of some directly involved parents and oncologists who were treating their children.
Our mission is: fight Neuroblastoma and paedriatric solid tumours through innovative research projects aimed at finding new effective therapies and personalised treatments.
- Raise the funds to support scientific research on Neuroblastoma and paedriatic brain tumours.
- Being constantly in synergy with other organizations and institutions having similar aims.
- Create a territorial network of partners that promote our mission and supports our activities.
- Support cooperative scientific research projects and clinical testing.

The Italian Association for the fight against Neuroblastoma has only one goal. We want to fight off Neuroblastoma and paediatric solid tumours through innovative research projects aimed at finding new and effective therapies and personalised treatments. More resources we have, more concrete results we will be able to achieve.

1993
ANB is born.
The founding members recruit the first members through a door to door campaign. -
1994
ANB gets recognition of legal personality by Italian Republic’s ministerial decree- Health Ministry.
The first employee is hired.
The research laboratory on Neuroblastoma of Genoa is born. -
1995
The children with the funnel-hat symbol is born.
Our magazine first issue is published.
“Cerco un uovo amico” campaign is born.
The association is Giffoni Film Festival ‘s guest and starts to make famous friendships.The first operational groups are born in some regions: Ligury, Piedmont, Sicily, Tuscany, Puglia and Venice.

1997
The website is born.

1998
The italian foundation for the fight against Neuroblastoma ONLUS is born.
The first research is published: the projects are valued in a study section by 36 established researchers.
An ambitious clinical -diagnostic research project is launched, still subsidised and recognized nationally. -
1999-2000
“Appendi una speranza all’albero di Natale” campaign is born with hand-painted Christmas panels of Vietrese ceramics and also by the partecipation of international artists like Emanuele Luzzati.

2001
The association and foundation are registered on the only register of ONLUS.
“Missione Bontà” Dash’s campaign is launched. -
2002
The Foundation presents the second competition notice for research projects.

2003
A conference for the 10 years of association is organized in Varallo Sesia.
We reach 70.000 contributors.
The Football League dedicates a day for the Association: all “Serie A” players take the field with our shirts and the captains wear the band with our logo. -
2004
For the first time Genoa host the international biennal congress on Neuroblastoma (ANR) within the events of “Genova 2004, capitale Europea della cultura”.
“Una vite per la vita” campaign begins in collaboration with centres OBI for bricolage.The campaign “Cerco un uovo amico” obtains the high patronage of President of Republic.

2005
Thanks to the campaign “Cerco un Uovo amico” we get to deliver over 100.000 chocolate eggs throughout the country.
The partnership with Olio Carli starts. -
2006
We pass the threshold of 100.000 contributors.
We get to organize over 500 publicly occasions to gather in a year. -
2007
The association becomes adherent member of the Italian Institute of Donation (IID).
Progetto Pensiero comes to life (a still active project of scientific research on pedriatric brain tumours). -
2008
The protocol of understanding is signed between Foundation and Trento’s University: project of research “Farmaco Amico GENUS “was born.
22 researchers are financed for partecipate to ANR of Chiba in Japan.
Italian police started to support the campaign “Cerco un uovo amico!”
Foundation Just Italia supports the Association with a contribution of 20000 euros.
The basketball league welcomes volunteers of Association on every serie A1 field, sponsoring our easter campaign. -
2010
The Facebook page of the Association is inaugurated.

2011
The Foundation is signed up by MIUR to the National Register of Research.
The first meeting with representatives and most loyal supporters coming from all over Italy took place in Genoa.
The Milan’s office is inaugurated and the Association goes into business. This is presented by Susanna Messaggio in Milan ‘s spa.
The association starts to collaborate with Iveco to celebrate Easter campaign. -
2012
“Genova per la ricerca”: gala dinner that takes place in Milan’s Stock Exchange building ends a series of initiatives in which the city has supported the research on Neuroblastoma and paedriatric brain tumours.
15 researches are financed for partecipate to the ANR in Toronto.
Massimo Giacoppo, olympic water-polo vice champion becomes a testimonial for the Association and involves his Club team “Pro Recco” for supporting our mission.
“Snoopy e Belle amici dei bambini” campaign is launched thanks to the partnership with BIC Licensing and the collaboration with IED Moda of Milan. -
2013
The association celebrates 20 years in Genoa with “Noi ci mettiamo”.
The signing of cooperation agreement with the foundation “Istituto di ricerca pediatrica città della speranza “of Padova leads to the opening of a new laboratory in the city.
A new announcement for researches is published: Among the projects presented only two are selected: high -risk personalized therapies for Neuroblastoma and immunological medicinal products that will be supported in a three –year period (2014-2016.)
“Una vite per la vita” celebrates 10 years and reach one million euros allocated for research.
The regional office in Serravalle Sesia (VC) is opened.
Thanks to the campaign “Cerco un uovo amico” we deliver more than 140.000 chocolate eggs. -
2014
The first social report of the Association is published.
The runner Cristiano Resti celebrates for us an ultramarathon “Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon” In Cape Town, South Africa. -
2015
Our friend and testimonial Fabio Frizzi does a commercial for the children and research.
The athlete Matteo Perucchini donates to the research his single-handed row across the Ocean. -
2016
The association wins B-solidale call that see us as protagonist during a part of B division football league.
A partnership is launched with group Mediolanum.
Our association becomes part of the editorial board of Vita, a magazine considered as the reference point of third sector. -
2017
The “Super Dad” Filippo Minuto runs his first ironman for the Association, that earned him the nickname “IronDad” reaching a great goal both for ranking and funds.

2018
Our association wins the first call of the donation institute dedicated for the day of donation.
Red Canzian becomes our testimonial in occasion of the “Jazz in Laurino” festival. -
2019
Our association took to the streets throughout Italy with a dense network of volunteers for the campaign “Cerco un Uovo Amico”.

2022
Precision medicine: development of personalized protocols for each individual patient, refractory to the therapy received.
The Association and the Foundation are governed by a Board of Directors which decides on research funding based on the scientific opinions expressed by the Technical Scientific Committee and by the Auditors. These reviewers are chosen from around the world on the basis of the individual professionalism required for the line of research under consideration. The Association and the Foundation are controlled by the Board of Auditors with the task of checking the mission budgets, guaranteeing their truthfulness with a view to total transparency for the donor and compliance with the statutory purposes.
